Statement of Faith

At Pleasant Grove Baptist Church we believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally inspired, inerrant and infallible Word of God, and is preserved for us today in the Authorized King James Bible.

We believe that there is one true God, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, co-equal in power and glory and having the same attributes and perfections.
(Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Romans 8:9-11, 1 John 5:7)

We believe in the virgin birth and deity of the Lord Jesus Christ who became man without ceasing to be God that He might reveal God the Father, and redeem sinful men and women, boys and girls.
(Matthew 1:18-25, Titus 2:13)

We believe Christ shed His precious blood on Calvary’s Cross and died for our sins, was buried and was literally, bodily resurrected after three days and nights.
(Romans 5:5-9, 1 Corinthians 15:1-8)

We believe that salvation is by grace through faith, plus nothing. Repentance is a condition of the heart at salvation, brought about by conviction of the Holy Spirit. Man alone is utterly unable to change his lost condition. Anyone who has not been born again is now lost, and will be doomed to eternal punishment in Hell, if they die in that state
(Ephesians 2:9, 2 Corinthians 7:10-11, John 6:44, Luke 16:19-21)

We believe in the eternal security for the truly born again child of God.
(John 10:27-30)

We believe there are only two local church ordinances for believers, Water Baptism by immersion, showing the Lord’s death, burial, and resurrection, and the Lord’s Supper, in remembrance of Him.
(Acts 8:36-38, 1 Corinthians 11:23-28)

We believe that all who are saved should live to not bring reproach upon their Savior and Lord: and, that a separated life from all apostasy, worldly and sinful pleasures, practices and associations will be manifested outwardly as the Christian grows in the Word of God.
(Romans 12:1-2, 2 Corinthians 6:14-18)

We believe that supporting Missions is an extremely viable part of the work of the New Testament Baptist Church.
(Mark 16:15, Acts 13:1-3)

We believe in the personal, visible, Pretribulational and Premillenial return of Jesus Christ: first, to catch away the true believers: and second, to establish His kingdom on the earth.
(Acts 1:11, 1 Corinthians 15:52-58, 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18)
